Meet the Team

Head of Academy – Mr A Yeomans

I am very proud and honoured to be Head of Academy at The Vale Primary Academy. The Academy is a very special place where our team of teachers, support staff, supervisors, parents and children all work together to ensure the highest standards and expectations. Throughout my time as a teacher and leader I taught in all year groups, in schools of varying contexts, and lead schools to achieve and strive for the highest possible rates of learning, always with a passionate drive to improve outcomes for all children. As an educational consultant I have supported the development of many schools and academies across the country, delivered at conferences on areas ranging from; ICT in education to positive behaviour management, transforming writing for all children to tailoring pedagogy to support children with specific learning needs. As Head of Academy I believe in making the most of every day in order to ensure all children are happy, safe and confident to take on challenges and fulfil their unlimited potential.

Foundation Stage Teacher

Mrs Skelding - I am a passionate Early Years teacher at The Vale Primary Academy.  I enjoy spending time with my family, visiting new places and meeting new people.

Foundation Stage Teacher - Miss K Grainger

I feel very privileged to have worked across the Academy both in Key Stages 1 and 2 and am very excited to be now part of the Early Years Foundation Unit at The Vale Primary Academy. Prior to entering the teaching profession, I obtained a BSc degree in Psychology where I developed a strong interest in child development. My studies inspired me to work both in educational and childhood research roles with children ages 0 – 18, giving me a solid understanding of the education system as a whole. My true passion and enthusiasm lies with inspiring children to learn and enjoy education. I aim to be a positive role model, supporting children in fulfilling their potential of becoming confident, happy and successful people.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to learn about other cultures, especially trying out new cuisines. I try to balance this out with an active lifestyle and enjoy going to my local gym.

Year 1 Teacher - Miss A Hawcroft

After completing my BSc degree in Psychology and MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis, I worked with many children (aged 3-9) who had Autism. It was through this that I have developed a strong passion for helping all children develop emotionally, socially and educationally.  I worked for 2 years in home education and in a school in Toronto, Canada. Upon moving back to England, I became a Teaching Assistant before obtaining my PGCE in Primary Education with QTS. Through my prior jobs and training, I have had experience teaching most primary year groups. I thoroughly enjoy my role in the lives of the children at The Vale and cannot wait to see how much progress they all make each year.

Outside of school, I love watching live music, reading and visiting beautiful places. I aim to experience as many cultures as possible.

Year 2 Teacher - Mrs S Rowse/ SEN co-ordinator

I am delighted to be joining the fantastic team here at The Vale. After teaching in KS1 for four years I have developed a deep understanding of this fundamental stage of our children’s education. As the SEN Co-ordinator for the Vale I feel incredibly passionate about breaking down the barriers for our children and making sure they’re fully supported so they achieve their utmost potential. My ongoing goal as a teacher is to inspire and nurture children so they can see their own brilliance and believe in themselves, allowing them to become the best they can be. In my free time I like to take my little dog for countryside walks, finishing in a cafe for coffee and cake.

Year 3 Teacher - Mrs K Burnell
In my spare time it's all about the family. Soft play areas, reading and playing are my particular favourites. I love walking, this year I took part in the three peaks challenge for charity. My best friend and I raised over £1000 in honour of her disabled son, jack.

I am very happy to be part of The Vale Primary Academy!

Year 5 Teacher - Mr L Goodman

I have worked in educational institutes for over ten years, first as a Teaching Assistant and then as a Teacher.  This has given me experience in all year groups across primary and secondary education, including supporting children with varied special educational needs. I am extremely passionate in making sure all children are happy and successful.

Out of school I enjoy socialising and keeping fit, along with spending time with my family.

Year 6 Teacher / Vice Principal - Miss S Taylor
