This week we are going to be looking at Antarctica, and comparing it to The Arctic. We will be introducing our class text for the week 'The Emperors Egg', and making our own penguins. In our number work, we will be counting actions such as claps, hops, skips and jumps.
Monday 17th September
We are continuing with our class text 'Dear Polar Bear' this week, the children will be thinking about what they would like to have as a pet if they could have anything in the world! In our number work we are going to continue with recognising and ordering numbers to 5 (Little Bears) and 10 (Big Bears), and counting objects to 5/10.
I will be sending out the new Autumn Term Challenge this afternoon, giving all children chance to complete some tasks at home and get a certificate from Mrs Oates

This week we are going to be introducing our topic of 'Polar Regions', we are going to start by looking at the Arctic before moving on to Antarctica. We are going to be using 'Google Earth' to compare Arctic to England, and we will be introducing our new class text 'Dear Polar Bear'. The children will be carrying out their own ice experiments and finding out how to make ice melt fast.

Welcome back everyone, hope you have all had a lovely holidays and are excited for the new half term. Our topic this half term is 'Polar Regions', we will be learning all about the Arctic and Antarctica, including; what the weather is like, who lives there and what animals can be found there. We will be practising our precursive emergent wriitng by drawing different animals from the Polar Regions, and Reception will be listening to and writing the initial sounds in these words.
By the end of the week all children will have brought home their reading book and alphabet, and Reception children will have their first set of words to practise.
