Teaching and Learning

Children learn in a variety of different ways and we try to give them the opportunity to experience learning by: instruction, first-hand experience, observation, problem solving, demonstration, research etc.

It follows that children need to experience a variety of teaching styles e.g. spotlight teaching, Same Day Intervention teaching, whole-class teaching, individual and group work.

From the wide range of teaching and learning styles, we aim to use the most appropriate for any particular activity and developmental level. Pupils with special educational needs, including those who are particularly gifted or talented in a particular area, are monitored and work is carefully differentiated.

All staff are afforded opportunities for professional development. This will include both regular school-based INSET (training) and provision drawn from outside agencies.

At the last Ofsted, Teaching & Learning was one of the areas judged to be outstanding.
