What another great week we have had in Year 5, the children have started to bring in some amazing creative homework which will be displayed within our classroom. Well done to the following people who have brought in some 3D models of a pyramid: Adley, Lennon, Emily, Harmony and Ethan.

The children have completed their setting descriptions and I cannot wait to read them as the children have tried extremely hard to uplevel and understand the structure of how to write a detailed piece. Within maths, we have been counting forwards and backwards in powers of ten and interpreting negative numbers that the children excelled in. Within Challenge X the children have been working collaboratively in order to answer specific questions relating to Egypt. Can’t believe some of the homework that has been brought in it is amazing.

This week the children have continued to develop their setting description; have improved their understanding of how to edit a piece of writing, using a range of skills. Within maths, they have gained an understanding of place value and the values of specific numbers before and after the decimal place. Our Challenge X is now underway and the children have shown amazing research skills to solve a question relating to Egypt.
3rd September 2018
It is lovely to have the children back in school I have been overwhelmed with their effort and attitude towards their work, not only have they shown great resilience but they have made a conscious effort to understand how to answer specific questions across all areas of learning. We have started to read our class read ‘Cool’ and the children have made excellent predictions. Within writing, they have started to develop a clear understanding of and why we use specific vocabulary when writing a setting description. In Challenge X we have started to explore Egyptians and answer questions they produced.
